The withdrawal button EU law requires – as a Wix app

Directive (EU) 2023/2673 requires EU countries to ensure that from 19 June 2026 a website through which consumers in the EU conclude contracts carrying a right of withdrawal offers a withdrawal function – shops and booking sites alike (Article 11a, Directive 2011/83/EU; in Germany § 356a BGB since 19 June 2026, in Austria for contracts concluded from 1 October 2026). Statutory wording
The button labels the directive names, in all 24 EU languages, read from the official texts. Form and receipt fully localised in 22 EU languages: every one except Irish and Maltese, where shops sell in English. Keep your own “Withdraw from contract here” link if you have one: it opens the same form.
Acknowledgement without undue delay
Emailed with the content of the declaration and the exact time of receipt, plus a receipt file the recipient can verify in any browser. The dashboard shows whether it went out. If you like, it also carries your return instructions.
A complete record
Every declaration with reference, timestamp and the day a refund would be due, exportable as CSV whenever you need evidence, and a copy of each one sent to you by email.

Built to be accessible

What Cooloff does not do. It does not decide whether a withdrawal is valid and it does not give legal advice. It never auto-cancels an order that has already shipped.

Frequently asked questions

Which Wix sites can install Cooloff?

Sites on a Wix Premium plan (apps with an embedded script install only there), in the Wix Editor and in Wix Studio. The button appears on every page, whether you sell with Wix Stores, take bookings with Wix Bookings or sell digital products.

Does this make my shop compliant?

Cooloff does not promise that, and nobody should. It provides the button in the statutory wording, a form reached directly, an acknowledgement of receipt with the content and the exact time, and a record. Whether your shop as a whole meets the requirements — withdrawal policy, model form, periods — is a question for legal advice.

Do I need this if my business is outside the EU?

The obligation is European (Article 11a of Directive 2011/83/EU, which EU countries must apply from 19 June 2026), but it binds any trader who directs sales at consumers in the EU, wherever the trader is based. A shop in the US, the UK or Israel selling into the EU is in scope; a shop that sells only outside the EU is not.

Where does the data live?

In a data collection inside your own Wix site, on Wix infrastructure. There is no developer server and no copy of your records. The acknowledgement is sent through the delivery service Resend, from Cooloff's sending address with your business name in the subject line, and with your email address as reply-to unless it is at a free mail provider such as gmail.com or gmx.de — the body of that acknowledgement (name, contract reference, email address and message) passes through Resend and is logged there for delivery. The data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR is the European Commission's standard contractual clauses with the annexes filled in: read the agreement.

What does it cost?

Nothing. The statutory core — button, form, acknowledgement, record — is free, with no limit, and stays free. Cooloff Pro (copies to your team, replies in your customer's language) is coming as an option: every shop that installs Cooloff before 1 November 2026 gets Pro free, for good.

Does it work for services and bookings?

Yes. The withdrawal function applies to distance contracts for goods and services alike. The button, the form and the acknowledgement work on any Wix site; automatic order matching and one-click cancellation are available on sites selling through Wix Stores.

After installing: what do I have to do?

Nothing is required: the button switches itself on at installation, signed with your site’s name. One step is worth it: in Settings, save the email address that should receive a copy of each declaration and your customers’ replies (your Wix account’s address is offered with one click). There you can also adjust the look or switch the button off.

What happens when someone withdraws?

The customer clicks the button, fills in name, contract and email, and confirms. The declaration is stored in your site with a timestamp and the acknowledgement is sent to the customer by email, and the declaration appears in your dashboard — on Wix Stores sites with the matching order and an assessment of the 14-day period.
