The withdrawal button EU law requires – as a Wix app

Since 19 June 2026, every website selling goods, services or digital content to consumers in the EU must offer a withdrawal function – shops and booking sites alike (Article 11a, Directive 2011/83/EU; in Austria for contracts concluded from 1 October 2026). Frequently asked questions

Which Wix sites can install Cooloff?

Sites on a Wix Premium plan (apps with an embedded script install only there), in the Wix Editor and in Wix Studio. The button appears on every page, whether you sell with Wix Stores, take bookings with Wix Bookings or sell digital products.

Does this make my shop compliant?

Cooloff does not promise that, and nobody should. It provides the function the law describes: the button in the statutory wording, a form reached directly, an acknowledgement of receipt with the content and the exact time, and a record. Whether your shop as a whole meets the requirements — withdrawal policy, model form, periods — is a question for legal advice.

Do I need this if my business is outside the EU?

The obligation is European (Article 11a of Directive 2011/83/EU, in force since 19 June 2026), but it binds any trader who directs sales at consumers in the EU, wherever the trader is based. A shop in the US, the UK or Israel selling into the EU is in scope; a shop that sells only outside the EU is not.

Where does the data live?

In a data collection inside your own Wix site, on Wix infrastructure. There is no developer server and no copy of your records. The acknowledgement is sent through the delivery service Resend, with your name as sender and your address as reply-to. A data-processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR is being prepared and will be provided on request once a lawyer has reviewed it.

What does it cost?

Nothing. Cooloff is free on the Wix App Market, with no trial and no hidden tier. If paid extras ever exist, the statutory core — button, form, acknowledgement, record — stays free.

Does it work for services and bookings?

Yes. The withdrawal function applies to distance contracts for goods and services alike. The button, the form and the acknowledgement work on any Wix site; automatic order matching and one-click cancellation are available on sites selling through Wix Stores.

After installing: what do I have to do?

In the current version, open the app's Settings once, switch the button on and click Save – saving is what places the button on your live site. The next version does this at install time. Then enter the sender name and reply address for the acknowledgement, and you are done.

What happens when someone withdraws?

The customer clicks the button, fills in name, contract and email, and confirms. In the same second the declaration is stored in your site with a timestamp, the customer receives the acknowledgement by email, and the declaration appears in your dashboard — on Wix Stores sites with the matching order and an assessment of the 14-day period.
